People of Galaroza are called “cachoneros” —deriving from a type of apple called cachón—, as a tribute to a long agricultural tradition.  So this is a very ‘fruitful’ house because for generations it has served as a food and fruit storage, for example for drying chestnuts and walnuts.

It’s a traditional construction of masonry & mud walls, enhanced with solid beams and roof tiles. It has unique construction details, such as the original cobblestone and the panels of the storage room.  Its most distinctive feature is the open spaces, courtyards, and garden, which surround the wattle providing views of the mountains covered with vegetation.

This house joins a series of unique projects carried out to highlight the possibilities of an intelligent renovation. In this specific case, we have chosen to highlight the longitudinal axis of the house, joining the courtyards of the perimeter through a new room, which extends the endearing original building, without altering it in its essence. The history of the place asks for the continuity of the horticultural use in the backyard. This plot has multiple possibilities because of its size and location with mountain view.

Alondra house has found new owners ready to renovate it. You can contact us by following this link, we will be happy to show more houses like Alondra.
