This village house is located in Calabazares, one of the serene small villages of Almonaster La Real, a town nestled in the heart of the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche. This Natural Park is one of the most important protected areas in Andalusia. On the hill that crowns the town we find the castle walls surrounding the ancient mosque, a construction that dates back to the first millennium. Almonaster stands out for the elaborate cobblestones of its streets and the care that the neighbors put in the facades of their houses, making this one of the most appreciated pearls of the Sierra. The beautiful houses and monumental heritage are added to its many cultural attractions, providing an irresistible offer.

Calabazares, specifically, is the closest village to Almonaster and, thanks to its location, enjoys an exceptional natural environment of fertile orchards and fields, streams and wooded areas. An idyllic setting in which to practice hiking, horticulture or develop your knowledge on botany, astronomy or mycology.

The construction itself is composed of traditional masonry and rammed earth walls, with a tile roof. Although it has been renovated, it retains the popular character of local architecture. The house was enlarged, for which more modern materials were used. In this extension, a bathroom was built and an additional room was defined. Due to its location in the village, the property is supplied with water and electricity.

But its most distinctive feature is undoubtedly the two plots of rustic land that it has both at the front and at the rear. The front has 360m² of land suitable for vegetable garden or similar uses. Its access is just a few steps from the property, so it can be considered integrated into it. The rear property, which has a surface area of 210 m², is also just a few steps away, but it is sold separately. The latter has a ruin, which could be rebuilt.

This house adds to our series of unique projects carried out to highlight the possibilities of intelligent renovation. In this particular case, we have chosen to give prominence to the relationship between the house and the surrounding nature. The entire house is developed on a single floor. The distribution is intended to regularize the spaces on the floor plan, making this a practical home for vacationing or living. It would have two bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen and living-dining room. For the surrounding land, we propose to recover its horticultural use.
